2026-09-05: New project; tttt! update
Hello, it's been 25 days since the last post here.
I've actually not been doing all too much programming lately, as you can tell by the
delay there.
However, I would like to introduce tttt!
What's tttt? You can find that information on its project page,
but I will summarise it.
First off, the acronym stands for “Talk To The Terminal”.
The idea of this program is that it's a collection of programs that act like you're “conversating”
with your terminal.
Now, I know somebody in the world is going to point their fingers and shout “AI!!” at the top of their
lungs, and for that reason, I must disclaim this: this program is NOT AI. It uses logic, and is inspired
by things like ELIZA. I actually didn't realise that this sounded like AI until right before I was going to
publish it, so if I sound overly insistent on it not being AI, that's why.
Anyway, these programs use commands like “i” to allow you to somewhat write sentences in your terminal
(while trying to avoid name collisions), and the terminal will respond with a one-line response. Here is an example
interaction (from the programs list page):
$ you are odd You're right, I am odd. $ i am not cool Yes. You are not cool. $ hey, that was mean I couldn't care less. $ hey, you ate my doorknob You're right, I ate your doorknob. I'm so so sorry!!! >.<
So… that's tttt! Feel free to clone the Git repository at https://codeberg.org/jasperredis/tttt,
and do check out the project page!
I sincerely hope that I don't regret categorising this as "general".
